  • National Career Readiness Certificate

NCRC HeaderWelcome to the Michigan National Career Readiness website (MI NCRC)! This portable credential, powered by WorkKeys, is a nationally recognized skills assessment tool developed by ACT, Inc. The MI NCRC verifies to employers anywhere in Michigan and the United States that an individual has core job skills that apply to work in Applied Mathematics, Locating Information, and Reading for Information – skills that are highly important to the majority of jobs in the workplace.

The certificate offers individuals, employers, and educators an easily understood and universally valued credential that certifies the attainment of these workplace skills. In addition to the MI NCRC, individuals earn employability skills certification verifying skills in effective communication, teamwork, problem solving and critical thinking.

In Michigan’s transitioning economy, the MI NCRC meets the needs of both employers and job seekers of becoming more competitive and marketable in the global marketplace.

Now more than ever, Michigan businesses need a strong, skilled workforce to survive today's challenges. When employers ask for the Michigan National Career Readiness Certificate (MI NCRC), they’ll find the most skilled employees.

The Michigan National Career Readiness Certificate tells employers that workers have essential core employability skills critical for success in their organization. Individuals with higher scores are prepared for a greater range of jobs or training programs. When a business asks for the Certificate, it is well on its way to hiring a more qualified, trainable employee, thereby improving productivity and the bottom line.

Employers use the MI NCRC as one factor, along with other educational and background information, in making employment and training decisions. The MI NCRC is often considered a plus when presented to an employer during the hiring process because it shows the individual has attained specific workforce competency levels in Reading for Information, Applied Mathematics, and Locating Information.

WorkKeys® assessments have been shown to improve the quality of new hires, reduce training time, reduce turnover and increase productivity. An employer may use the MI NCRC to help reduce hiring time and costs.
